Events held within the framework of Cultural Days of Shusha featured the presentation a book entitled "The Sacred City of Shusha" at the Presidential Library in Ankara.
The event gathered the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli, the Chief Advisor to the President Yalçın Topçu, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Shusha Aydın Kerimov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara H. E. Mr. Reşad Memmedov and the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev as well as many guests.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Memmedov emphasised that Azerbaijan has ensured its sovereignty over its territory and reminded that the year 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan which are being duly celebrated.
Mr. Memmedov further expressed his satisfaction as to the publication of the book in Turkish.
Mr. Kerimov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Shusha who also took the floor at the event pointed out that the book on "The Sacred City of Shusha" which is an important work containing detailed information about the history of this ancient city of Azerbaijan will help readers understand the its importance. Stating that the book is also valuable because it was "written after the liberation of Shusha from its occupation", Mr. Kerimov emphasized that the fact that this presentation event is being held in the Presidential National Library also stands for the importance of this work.
TURKSOY Secretary General Raev underlined that Shusha which is "the symbol of freedom of the Turkic World" added that Shusha is the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2023" and stressed the fact that Shusha will always preserve its special and valuable place for the Turkic World.
The Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye who also took the floor at the event pointed out the importance of Shusha and added that now, the glorious tricolour flag of Azerbaijan is floating over Shusha along with sounds of muezzins' calls to prayer.
Along with the presentation of the book entitled "The Sacred City of Shusha", the event also featured a photography exhibition.
