Aide to the President of Azerbaijan Anar Alakbarov addressed the event. He said that after the liberation of the territories occupied by Armenia for about thirty years under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev as a result of the Great Patriotic War, large-scale construction and restoration work began here. He said that along with infrastructure projects in the region, large-scale work is being carried out to inventory, protect and restore historical and cultural monuments.
First Vice President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva stated that on December 8, 2020, the Foundation launched a project to restore cultural and religious monuments and mosques in the liberated territories. Thus, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as a member of civil society, supports the projects implemented by the state in the restoration of history.
The Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Shusha district Aydin Karimov said that on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, great work has been done in a short time to restore the historical appearance of the city. The parts of the city where historical monuments are located are divided into zones. “As we know, there are more than 150 historical monuments in Shusha alone. The restoration of each of these monuments is of special importance to us. The signing of the Order by President Ilham Aliyev declaring Shusha the capital of culture once again demonstrates the special importance of the city. Therefore, the restoration and reconstruction of Shusha is carried out with special sensitivity, "Aydin Karimov said.
Chairman of the Board of Shusha City State Reserve Maftun Abbasov spoke about the work done by the organization. He said that work with historical monuments in need of protection is carried out with special sensitivity. Discussions are underway with foreign experts to develop a master plan for the city. Regular visits of Shusha residents to their hometowns have been organized, and work is underway to relocate them and accommodate people working in the city.
Speaking about the restoration of the Mehmandarovs' mansion complex in Shusha, Cronos chief restorer Ugur Miralay said that like other historical monuments, this material and cultural building was destroyed during the Armenian occupation. .
