Another achievement of Azerbaijani architects.
Two architectural masterpieces that adorn Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, have won prestigious international competitions.
Thus, on October 1–2, under the organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan, and with the support of the International Union of Architects, the Seventh Baku International Architecture Award was held. The competition featured 265 projects from 38 countries around the world. By unanimous decision of the jury, the restoration project of the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha was awarded the Second Degree Diploma in the category “Best Implemented Project in the Field of Restoration and Reconstruction of Buildings.”
The XXXIII International Review-Competition “Best Project/Building of the Year” of the International Association of Unions of Architects — considered a showcase of the best architectural works of Eurasian countries — was held in Astana on October 9–11. Among the 132 projects submitted to the competition, the “Shusha Hotel and Conference Center” project was selected and awarded the Second Degree Diploma in the category “Urban Planning Complexes and Ensembles.”
We sincerely congratulate our architects on their success in these two prestigious competitions and express our confidence that such steps toward the development and global recognition of Azerbaijani architectural art will continue in the future.
