On September 19, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, participated in the Flag Square opening ceremony in Shusha.

The Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, informed the head of state about the work carried out at Flag Square.

It was noted that the reconstruction of Flag Square began in May 2024. The project for the square was developed by the Baku State Design Institute based on the concept by "Chapman Taylor." Flag Square is surrounded by an amphitheater. The total area of the site is 9,190 square meters, with 3,693 square meters dedicated to greenery, and the flagpole stands at a height of 11.7 meters. The vast majority of perennial plants on the site were preserved and integrated into the project. Local plants, including plane trees, were used in the landscaping work. Modern seating and lighting systems have been installed here. It is noteworthy that, according to the General Plan of the city of Shusha, the construction of a Victory Museum, a multifunctional concert and theater hall, and a shopping center is planned around Flag Square.
