Assistant to the President, Anar Alakbarov, informed the head of state about the conditions created in the house-museum.
It should be noted that Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s house was built in the 19th century. In 1959, the building began functioning as a house-museum. The house-museum of the great composer, founder of our professional musical art and national opera, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, operated until the occupation of the city of Shusha. The museum housed 1,700 exhibits, including personal and family belongings of the Hajibeyli family, as well as the composer’s personal items, photographs, and books. After the occupation of Shusha by Armenian forces, the museum ceased its activities, its exhibits were looted, and the building was destroyed. Of the 1,700 exhibits, only 136 were preserved.
It was reported that the restoration work at the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House-Museum, carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, began in April 2022. The restoration process included studying the original appearance of the house, strengthening the foundations, restoring the floors, facades, and roofing, carrying out interior and exterior finishing work, installing doors, windows, and engineering-communication systems, as well as landscaping the yard. Existing stone walls on the site were dismantled, the stones were cataloged by size, work was done on the damaged parts of the foundation, and general site cleaning was carried out. Additionally, material samples were analyzed in a laboratory in Turkey, and calculations were made for conservation and restoration. Inside the house-museum, the walls and partitions were reconstructed, and the floors were restored. To restore the stone wall in the courtyard, a foundation was dug and concreted, and stone masonry and decorative elements were installed in line with the historical appearance of the building.
On the first floor of the house-museum, documents, information, and other exhibits about Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s family and childhood are displayed. The second hall on this floor showcases materials about U. Hajibeyli’s years of study at the Gori Teachers’ Seminary, his teaching career, and his works and articles. A fragment of the sheet music for the romance "Sensiz" is displayed along the wall.
On the second floor, posters and programs of the premieres of the composer’s works, as well as photographs capturing his students and travels, are exhibited. A fragment of the sheet music for the opera "Koroglu" is displayed along the entire wall.
One of the walls in the house-museum is adorned with a collage consisting of sketches of characters from Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s stage works, programs, and posters. In this section, footage from films about the life, activities, and creativity of the composer is also shown.
