The cherished memory of our martyrs was honored in Shusha.

Today, Azerbaijan marks Memorial Day. In response to the next military aggression of the Republic of Armenia against our country, which began on September 27, 2020, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, launched the Patriotic War with the aim of liberating our occupied lands.

The 44-day Patriotic War, inscribed in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijan, demonstrated the military power of our country to the entire world. The people of Azerbaijan always highly value the bravery of their sons and daughters, show deep respect for the souls of all martyrs, and honor their memory.

To commemorate the cherished memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, memorial ceremonies were held at the Flag Square and the Martyrs’ Alley in the city of Shusha. At 12:00, the memory of the martyrs was honored with a minute of silence. After the moment of silence, the ceremony continued at the Martyrs’ Alley. Flowers were laid at the monument erected in honor of the martyrs, and prayers were recited for their souls.

The special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, spoke with pride about the historic Victory achieved by our glorious Army under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev, in response to Armenia’s next military provocation. He prayed for God’s mercy upon the martyrs who showed heroism, sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands, and contributed to this historic Victory.

The event was attended by the Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve Department, Tural Novruzov, officials of the Special Representative’s Office and the Reserve Department, families of martyrs, war veterans, veterans of the Patriotic War, heads of law enforcement agencies, institutions, and organizations of the district, as well as city residents.

May God have mercy on all our martyrs!

We bow our heads before the souls of our martyrs!
