In Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, the "Kelagai" Festival was held for the first time as part of the "Days of Sazly, Sozlu Kelagai" project with the support of the Shusha City Administration of the State Reserve and the organization of the "Kelagai" Festival. The festival was organized by the "Mirvarid Dilbazi Poetic Assembly" public association. The festival presented the residents of Shusha with antique kelagai, handmade dry goods, antique kelagai, knitted items by Gullu Eldar Tomarly, paintings by artist Gulnara Mammadova, works by kuramakista Aibeniz Jamalova, and the recently published book "My Mother is Kelagai, Kelagai is My Mother...". The event began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence to honor the memory of our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands. The Chairman of the "Mirvarid Dilbazi Poetic Assembly" public association and director of the "Kelagai" House Museum, Gullu Eldar Tomarly, delivered a speech. She stated that in 2014, through the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Kelagai became an intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO, included in the cultural heritage list. The "Sazly-Sozlu Kelagai" Festival is being held in Shusha for the first time. Our goal is to restore the former glory of Azerbaijani kelagai and to promote it.
