Upper Mosque's Madrasa

Madrasa of the Upper Govhar Aga Mosque. It is an architectural monument of the 18th century. The madrasa building was designed in the architectural style of Shusha, was erected around the mosque and created a story of inner courtyard in front of the mosque. During the Soviet era, the part of the madrasa building in front of the mosque was demolished in order to open the frontside of the mosque, and only one wing of the madrasa building survived. During the Soviet era, the building was used for various purposes. During the occupation, the building was heavily damaged by Armenian terrorists. The building was restored after the city of Shusha was freed from occupation.
